Paint the City

There are hundreds of forest green utility boxes in public view on street corners around San Francisco. These boxes contain necessary electrical units for our traffic signals, but are also an opportune target for graffiti.

The City spends countless dollars and hours repainting these utility boxes, but simultaneously it has become increasingly difficult for local artists to live in SF. Working with Paint the Void and Building 180, Civic Joy Fund is excited to fund another round of Paint the City!

Last year, through Paint the City, we were able to paint over 100 utility boxes across San Francisco with the help of 27 local artists from their respective neighborhoods. We are excited to be bringing Paint the City back for another year!

In year two, Paint the City will help transform another 250 utility boxes across San Francisco with the help of 24 different local artists. We will be covering 10 different neighborhoods and the murals will reflect the unique character and stories of our neighborhoods, enhancing the visual tapestry of San Francisco and leaving a lasting impact on its residents and visitors.
